The United States is a vast country. From sea to shining sea you can find mountains, deserts, plains and enough attractions to keep any tourist busy for the rest of their life. Here are my top five attractions.
New York City
The Big Apple has got to be on the top attraction on any tourist’s list when it comes to travel in the United States. It appeals to Americans and also to visitors from around the world. The Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty are landmarks recognized by people everywhere. Broadway, Fifth Avenue and Wall Street are places that have worked their way into everyone’s language. Time Square is the center of the American universe. New York City will appeal to children, adults and seniors; it is a city for everyone. Central Park offers a respite from the skyscrapers and brings a bit of the country mid-town.
With some of the world’s greatest museums and cuisine to temp andy pallate, New York city really is The City That Never Sleeps.
The Grand Canyon
At the other end of the spectrum the Grand Canyon is all about wide open spaces where the only thing you see when you look up are canyon walls and bright blue skies.
When it comes to spectacular scenery, there is nowhere in the United States that can compare to the Grand Canyon. Whether you choose the South Rim or the North Rim, you will have views that are unsurpassed; it is hard to imagine that these colors actually exist in nature. It is even more beautiful than any picture you have ever seen. If you are visiting the north rim it is easy to combine the Canyon with a visit to Sin City, sort of a 2 for 1. You will even feel good about choosing to combine scenery with all the glitz of Las Vegas.
New Orleans
It isn’t just about Mardi Gras in New Orleans. There isn’t another city in the United States like it. The architecture, the jazz , the voodoo and the beignets are all guaranteed to make you fall in love. Walking or driving along the levis holding back the mighty Mississippi makes you realize what a precarious position this city survives in and that makes New Orleans all the more precious and unique.
The historic parts of the city were almost untouched by Katrina but it is the rebuilding of this great city that is bringing many tourists back to Nawlins. Don’t wait for Mardi Gras, this is a city that is at its best all year round.
Charlottesville, Va.
While this city may not be on every tourist’s radar, it should be. Three of our presidents found it charming enough to make it their home. The most famous former resident is Thomas Jefferson, who helped design the University of Virginia, which is also located in Charlottesville. He built his famous home Monticello here and today you can visit it as well as the homes of James Madison and James Monroe. Charlottesville has all the vibes of a college town and more.
Philadelphia, Pa.
There is no city that is more representative of what the Unites States is all about than Philadelphia. Ben Franklin is probably one of the best known Americans to have ever lived. History, art, entertainment and plenty of outdoor activities guarantee that you can visit here every year and never get bored. Philadelphia has undergone a renaissance and it is the place to really feel the pulse of historic America.
These are just a few of my favorite attractions in the United States. You could spend a lifetime seeing everything this wonderful country has to offer. From east to west, north to south, there are attractions to appeal to every tourist from every country and of course if none of these appeal there is always Orlando or Anaheim.
Charter Bus- the Key to New York Site Seeing?

With its plethora of famed sites, its busy streets peppered with top fashion stores, chic bistros, offices, and its unique atmosphere that has cities all over the world trying to reproduce, it is no wonder that New York City is regarded as one of the most beautiful and enchanting cities on this planet. The Big Apple takes you to places that no other city can offer.
Aside from the city’s mind boggling skyscrapers that do indeed live up to their title, the city that never sleeps offers much more. Without leaving the United States, New York City can whet your appetite with a taste of every country in the world in just a couple of hours with quick visits to Little Italy, Russia, Brazil, China Town, and the Barrio- not to mention the surrounding neighborhoods that can show you the best of all cultures ranging from Greek to Caribbean. Its bustling streets during the day and its breathtaking lights that glisten against the night sky are among the list of things that all people should encounter during their lifetime to keep in their memories forever.
The Empire State Building, a legendary colossus photographed more than any top supermodel, is seen by millions in photographs, movies, and postcards all over the world. Built during the Depression, it grew at an impressive rate of four and a half stories per week and its total of 102 stories were completed in a short 14 months. An outstanding symbol for the city of New York, it comes with no surprise that tourists from all over rush to visit the building when site-seeing. Each year, 3.5 million people, come to take an elevator (the real determined ones actually take the stairs) that climbs up more than a quarter of a mile into the atmosphere until they reach the 86th floor observatory. The glass observatory, which was opened in 1931, offers awe inspiring views of the city and elsewhere with its panoramic views from the sky. The observatory is open from 8 a.m. to midnight – allowing tourists to catch the breathtaking city at night with its twinkling lights.
Central Park, another of New York City’s major attractions, isn’t exactly something that seems like it would fit into such an urban place like New York City, but the park, which has been around since 1855 and receives 25 million people each year with open arms, has taken its stand and proven that nature still has a place in the city. Central Park was founded in 1855 by wealthy merchants and landowners who wanted New York to have a park that compared with the ritzy parks of Paris and London. The area that was chosen for the park -843 acres of swamp and muddy terrain- has come a long way since the 1800s. The zoo, which was founded in 1871, quickly became the public’s favorite. The zoo still remains a favorite today, however, the park has much more to offer, including: concerts, ice skating (during the winter), gardens and a pond, roller-skating, yoga, basketball and other sports, tours, horseback riding, fishing, and even cross-country skiing.
For any tourist visiting New York City, The World Trade Center site is definitely a must see. The site, once home to the beloved and missed Twin Towers, shows tourists the destruction that occurred on September 11, 2001, first hand. The sacred site cannot be walked in, but can be seen through fences and is accompanied by photographs of the former Twin Towers and of the present day site. As an event that will stand out forever in our nation’s history, it is a site that has to be seen and remembered for a lifetime.
It’s hard not to want to visit New York City, with its ever so enticing and provocative buildings, parks, museums, restaurants, and streets. With so much to see and so much to do, the sheer excitement of just being in such a thrilling city can be overwhelming, and a lot of tourists may make the mistake of not planning enough. Sure, money is something that is always necessary, and a camera is almost never forgotten with so many photo opportunities that await you in this wonderful city, but a lot of tourists make the crucial mistake of not planning transportation. This mistake can inevitably lead to a horrible chain reaction of headaches and what can be worse while traveling – a large loss of time.
Yet, aside from economical values of taking the bus when visiting New York City, peace of mind is also very important. Parking isn’t easy in a city with a population of 8,085,742 people. Finding a place to park could take an hour or more depending on what neighborhood you are in, and what could be worse is having to park in a zone with meters. Having to worry about putting a quarter in the meter every couple of hours and be a pain the you-know-where, and even the worry of whether or not your car is still in one piece or stolen can ruin anyone’s day. In addition, driving in New York City isn’t a Sunday drive through the park and can be one of the most stressful hassles a person can encounter. With the never ending traffic jams that would lose a race to a slug on any given day and road rage from other drivers, driving in NYC can easily become a person’s worst nightmare. More importantly, a recent statistic has shown that riding a bus is 91 times safer than riding in a car (a train is 15 times safer) which can be an important factor if traveling with a family or even for an individual.

Having been the capital of the United States only for a year, New York is often called one of the world’s capitals. The significant part of international business, finance, commerce, fashion, cinema and so on and so far is concentrated there.
New York City has a nickname “the big appleâ€. There are several legends connected to the term, all they have in common only that the term appeared in 1920-30. The first legend says that during the Great depression well-to-do families had to make ends-meet by selling apples. The second refers to jazz musicians. They said ‘There are many apples on the success tree, but when you pick New York City, you pick the Big Apple.’ There is an opinion that the nickname came from the ‘The Big Apple†club in New York. The other legend says that the nickname was invented by the sportswriter John Fitzgerald, who named his column about NYC’s racetracks “Around the Big Apple”.
New York City is located on the Atlantic coast of the United States, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The area of the modern New York began to be settled by the Europeans in the XVI century. Since the beginning of the XIX century New York has been the largest city in the United States. New York is a cosmopolitan city, where the emigrants make up the big part of its 8 million population. New York City consists of five boroughs. They are Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan.
The most prestigious and renowned borough is Manhattan. It’s an island where the best theaters, cinemas and shops are located. One of the biggest attractions in Manhattan is Central Park – an oasis of green in the middle of New York City. Here you can escape from the city noise, relax and enjoy nature. Manhattan is also filled up the highest skyscrapers with the offices of the leading international corporations. However Manhattan isn’t only that chic. Harlem – one of the most dangerous city districts is also there. Many think that there’s nothing more in New York, than Manhattan, but other four boroughs are also worth seeing.
Brooklyn occupies the western part of the Long Island and the largest in population of all the five boroughs. Brooklyn is famous for its Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Bridge and Brighton Beach. Brighton Beach is one of the largest Russian communities in the United States.
The largest in area of New York City’s five boroughs, Queens is more suburban in spirit. Like Brooklyn it is situated in the western part of the Long Island. Among the attractions in Queens are the New York Hall of Science and the Queens Zoo.
The Bronx is the only one borough that is part of mainland New York. The Harlem River separates The Bronx from the island of Manhattan. The Bronx’s attractions include Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees baseball club of the American League; the Bronx Zoo, Bronx High School of Science, Walton High School, Morris Park, the New York Botanical Garden.
Staten Island is the least populated of the five boroughs and the most geographically separated. You can there by ferry from Manhattan.
New York is magnetic city attracting a lot of tourists and emigrants every year.
