Known to be the Las Vegas of the East, Macau certainly lives up to its reputation as a party destination. The nightlife in Macau is as vibrant and diverse as its history and culture and is a potpourri of Asian and Western influences. One can gamble away ones life savings in a high end glitzy casino; experience a raunchy cabaret or a state of the art lazer show. Take in the atmosphere of the packed nightclubs and cap the night off by taking a lovers stroll down one of the immaculate beaches.

A vacation in Macau would not be complete without a high spending gambling spree in the many casinos of the region. Extremely expensive VIP suites are available at some of the high end casinos and the average house winnings in Macau are at 22,000 US dollars per table which is much higher than the Las Vegas average of 2,200 US dollars per table. If you are more of a racing enthusiast, a day at Asia’s only greyhound racing dome would be worthwhile, The Canindrome is open during the evening and draws in a number of tourists.

Nightclubs are found dotted all over Macau, and if you are in a specific area of town that has a large number of clubs and bars, bar hopping is definitely the way to enjoy the nightlife to the maximum. A number of casual pubs can be found on Taipa Island where patrons are really looking for a drink to relax and unwind rather than burning up the dance floor. Some of the best bars in the area are the Irish Bar, Patio de Cantigas and for jazz or blues fans the Glass House by the waterfront is the place to be.

Macau nightclubs often feature famous musicians and bands, Portuguese folk dancing and popular DJ’s on a regular basis. The latest attraction is the newly built Fisherman’s Wharf that has themed towns from all over globe. A Macau hotel usually has its own in house night club and bar in addition to the ones that can be found around the city. Luxury hotels in Macau are on par with the best in the world and offer the best comforts for travelers, among them is the Venetian Macao that also has it’s own in house casino- the Sands.
