Way More Than the Grand Canyon

Everybody knows that when you visit the southwest, you are supposed to visit the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is the quintessential family vacation destination—no matter where in America you live. Of course, there is a lot more to do in Arizona than ride donkeys down to the Colorado River!
Look, we aren’t knocking the Grand Canyon—it certainly is grand and it is something that everyone should see at least once. But Arizona has so much more to do and see.
Today the Arizona Micro Blog is going to be talking about Sedona. Sedona is, arguably, one of the most beautiful desert oases in the world. Smack dab in the Arizona desert, Sedona offers a cooler climate, lush greenery and all of the painted desert scenery a person could want.
Most people know Sedona as “one of those hippie artsy towns” and, to be sure, there are quite a few artist studios and metaphysical tourist shops here. If you wanted to find a place to get balanced, learn how to heal yourself with crystals and get in touch with your inner spirit guide, Sedona Arizona is certainly the place to do all of that. But there is a lot more to Sedona than the hippie artsy stuff. Here are a few of the other things Sedona Arizona has to offer:
Slide Rock State Park
This one of Arizona’s most famous state parks. The park features a natural rock slide that has become one of the world’s most beloved natural water slides. This park is so popular that nature conservationists worry about it being loved right out of existence by too much foot traffic. To be sure, the US Forest Service and the Arizona State Parks Department work tirelessly to make sure that the park stays clean and “user friendly.”
The Sedona International Film Festival
In 2009 the Sedona International Film Festival will last for six days, from Tuesday February 24, to March 1. The Sedona International Film Festival is when film buffs from all over the globe flock to Arizona to teach and share their art with others. This is no “up and coming” festival either—big names like Olympia Dukakis, Robert Osborne, and Helen Hunt have attended this festival!
Out of Africa Wildlife Park
The most popular attraction at this famous Arizona wildlife park is Tiger Splash, a show in which full grown tigers play in a pool with their handlers—they pounce on balls, play with toys and play in and out of the water. Make no mistake these tigers have all of their claws and teeth, but because they are treated well by their handlers and have a close relationship with them, there aren’t many accidents. You don’t have to worry about having a repeat of Siegfried and Roy here! This show is very popular with young kids who often spend the rest of the day re-enacting the show!
Arizona is certainly famous for its national parks and stark desert landscape, but the state is home to hidden gems (like Sedona as well). There’s plenty to do off the beaten path, you just have to take some time to explore!

The Statue Of Liberty

This long forgotten poem by Jean-Henri Sadot was set to music by Lionel Bernard and sung by Jerome Pannier, two young citizens of Jean-Henri Sadot’s native Normandy, France. They visited the Jean Sadot heritage website, read his memoirs and poems, and Lionel set this poem to his excellent and appropriate music. Other parts were added “stateside” by Vic & Rob Sadot, Dean A. Banks, and Ellen Lebowitz. The song celebrates how the Statue of Liberty represents American democracy and the unique …

Experiencing the Las Vegas Nightlife
Vegas, it’s a city that truly never sleeps. Sure, there’s fun to be had during the day, but when the sun goes down, the action heats up.
Vegas is known for opening new clubs and party centers all the time. Because the competition is extremely tight, you and I win. No matter what type of venue you’re in the mood for, Las Vegas has it.
There’s the “come as you are” clubs and for the more refined individual, there’s the “VIP” clubs-the best dress is mandatory. It’s extremely common to see Hollywood stars at Vegas clubs too. For instance, one night Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves hit the Moon Nightclub at the Palms. It’s a star party in Vegas.
The Palms is becoming world famous as the party center in Las Vegas. Their club, The Rain, is definitely one of the best in the city. There are great special effects and the music is a combo of old-school hip-hop, rock, dance, and house. Don’t try to go during the week, because it’s only open on Friday and Saturday. There’s a cover charge as well.
Another good club in town is Pure at Caesars Palace. It also has a VIP lounge. At 36,000-square-feet, Pure is a big club with lots of action. As with the clubs at The Palms, you can expect to spot hot celebs at Pure at any given moment. You can also head out the Terrace, which is a section of Pure that’s outdoors. The views are spectacular.
You know what another great nightclub is? The LAX at the Luxor is a fun club if you’re into something different. It’s a decent sized nightclub too-about 26,000-square-feet. The theme of the LAX is Goth. The nightclub is two stories also, so there are plenty of areas to work your stuff. The sound system in this gothic nightclub is excellent. As with any other decent Las Vegas nightclub, the dress code is strictly enforced.
Let’s talk about that for a second. I’d highly recommend that you call whatever Las Vegas nightclubs you’re interested in before just showing up. The dress code rules vary wildly. What works at one club, won’t work at another. Show up in a suit at some clubs and you’re likely to be turned away. However, show up in business-casual dress at another and you’ll get the same result. Preparation is the key.
While I’ve talked about some of the upper-level nightclubs in Vegas, the city has tons of “average Joe” nightclubs. Show up in nice attire (nothing too fancy) and you’re all set. Most places have a cover charge and the “ladies are free” stuff only works at certain clubs. Your upper-level clubs are very picky and packed. It’s your usual club experience.
If you want a nightclub or nightlife experience off the Las Vegas Strip, check out the Red Rock Hotel & Casino in Summerlin. It’s about a 15-minute drive from the Strip and has some good action-like Cherry, their nightclub.
Next time you’re in Las Vegas, hit up one of these clubs.

The Lowdown On Las Vegas Night Clubs & Night Life
Las Vegas night life and night clubs are thriving. Whether you are into throbbing dance clubs, looking for night clubs for a romantic tryst or simply the best places to watch people, Vegas has you fully catered for.
Throbbing night clubs can be found at nearly every hotel/casino. One of the most popular is of course Studio 54 at MGM Grand. This hot spot is based entirely on the New York club of the same name.
Across the road from Studio 54 you will find RA at the Luxor which carries on its Egyptian theme inside.
One of the most popular night clubs is Rain night club at Palms. If you are in the mood to see a lot of bronzed and toned men and women in bikinis check out Bikinis at The Rio. The winner of the best Las Vegas dance club for 2006 according to AOL City Guide is Pure night club at Caesars Palace. The winner of the best Las Vegas Singles Scene is Viva Las Vegas Lounge, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 4455 Paradise Road. If refinement and an air of exclusivity is what you’re looking for then visit Light night club at Bellagio.
The newest wave of night club entertainment is lounges, something between a bar and a dance club. The Tabu at MGM Grand has models working as hostesses. Risque, Paris, has private balconies looking out over the gorgeous strip. Whiskey Bar and Whiskey Beach at the Green Valley Ranch resort are the brainchild of Cindy Crawford’s husband. The view at Mix at Mandalay Bay is absolutely breathtaking with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Luxor. At Pure night club at Caesars Palace you can feel really relaxed on overstuffed bed seating. At Lure night club, Wynn, there’s actually no dance floor as the focus is on relaxing in elegant chairs and lingering at tables.
The winner of the best conversation bar for 2006 is V Bar, the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. The winner of the best dive bar for 2006 is The Tap House, Off Strip, 5589 West Charleston Blvd. The winner of the best Las Vegas gay bar for 2006 is Krave, Aladdin Resort & Casino, 3663 Las Vegas Blvd S. The winner of the best Las Vegas karaoke for 2006 is Ellis Island Casino & Brewery, Off Strip, 4178 Koval Lane. The winner of the best Las Vegas late night dancing for 2006 is Mr Lucky’s, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 4455 Paradise Road.
If your interest is people watching then try Mandalay Bay’s Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce. If you are looking for the rich and famous check out Paradise Road’s Gordon Biersch Brewing Company. Coyote Ugly at New York New York is a real-life version of Coyote Ugly the movie, and The Beach and Bikinis are the best places to slim guests wearing hardly anything.
The strip clubs are pulling out all stops nowadays to get you into the door and spending money for a few hours. Club Paradise promotes the fact that several of the girls are centrefolds for both Playboy and Penthouse magazines. Jaguars is a $25 million club with a restaurant, stages and several bars. At Cheetahs the girls are very energetic. In fact, the movie ‘Showgirls’ was actually researched and filmed at that location. The Girls Of Glitter Gulch is downtown. The Palomino Club is said to be the only 100 percent nude Las Vegas strip club that serves alcohol. Sapphire houses a restaurant, VIP sky boxes, show rooms and stages.
If you’re looking for night clubs with no cover charge check out Armadillo Lounge, Barley’s Casino & Brew Pub, Bourbon Street Cabaret, Caramel, and Champagne Cafe just to name a few. Popular Adventure Tours in North America
April 25, 2009 by admin
The growing popularity of adventure tours has changed the way many people spend their vacations. Once thought of as primarily a chance to kick back and relax, modern vacationers have a multitude of options available to them besides simply sitting on a beach. Adventure tours offer vacationers a chance to explore and challenge themselves in ways not possible in their everyday lives. Mountain climbing, hiking and white water rafting are just some of the exciting and memorable experiences vacationers can have on an adventure tour. Often experienced in remote parts of the world such as Africa or Southeast Asia, adventure tours are available in North America as well. Take a look at some of the most popular adventure tours available.
Pioneer Adventures of the Old West
Covering several beautiful landscapes in the Southwest area of the United States, this adventure tour will take you everywhere from the Grand Canyon to Montezuma Castle. As opposed to a vacation which simply takes you to the Grand Canyon or Zion National Park, this adventure tour includes both of these breathtaking locations as well as several other incredible landmarks.
Besides coordinating meals and transportation, an adventure tour includes a qualified tour director to keep everyone together and informed of important stops and historical landmarks. For instance, during the “Pioneer Adventures of the Old West” adventure tour, the tour director will discuss the historical importance of Williams, which was once a rough frontier town. Vacationers who choose this adventure tour will also have the unique experience of seeing Sedona, Arizona, by 4WD Jeep. The Jeep tour goes through incredible Dry Creek Basin, offering the adventure tourist a different perspective of the landscape which was once home to the Old West.
Grand Tour of Canada
Most vacations take you to just one fantastic destination: a warm and beautiful beach, a majestic mountain range or a bustling city. An adventure tour combines all of these destinations into one memorable experience. The “Grand Tour of Canada” adventure tour includes all of these aspects. Visit the beautiful Canadian cities of Vancouver and Victoria, take a ride on the Athabasca Glacier on a custom designed ice explorer and take in the picturesque sights of Lake Louise and Banff.
It is important to note that just because an adventure tour is mapped out and planned ahead of time, there are still days which can be customized to the vacationers specifications. Often referred to as “your choice activities”, these days are set aside so that vacationers can experience certain locations at their own pace.
An example of “your choice activities” occurs during the Jasper stop on the “Grand Tour of Canada” adventure tour. Vacationers have the choice of taking a cruise across Maligne Lake, experiencing a horseback ride through the mountains or venturing down the Athabasca River on a comfortable float trip.
Best of California
An adventure tour allows you to experience more than just one location. The “Best of California” tour brings you the best of both San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as everything in between. An ordinary vacation to either of these cities would of course be a great and memorable experience, but on an adventure tour nothing is left to chance. The thought and organization that is put into the planning of these tours ensures this, as does the tour director who accompanies you on your trip.
The “Best of California” tour begins in San Francisco, ushering you across town on the famous cable car and through beautiful Pacific Heights and historic Golden Gate Park. As you soak up the culture and sights of this “world” city, the tour continues taking you into the California country and wilderness via Yellowstone National Park, Carmel and picturesque Pebble Beach golf course.
Next stop is Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, California. Bringing you the best sights and sounds of the great state of California, this adventure tour takes you right down Sunset Boulevard to the famous “Hollywood” sign and Hollywood walk of Fame. This particular adventure tour offers two types of tours in one package. In both San Francisco and Los Angeles, vacationers are treated to an in-depth sightseeing tour and an orientation tour of Carmel, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.
A North American adventure tour includes beautiful cities and landscapes, history and culture. An ordinary vacation to even one of the locations would not provide the incredible possibilities available to travelers on an adventure tour. Also, the degree of physical exertion and the amount of activities taken is entirely up to the vacationer. Some individuals want the most intense vacation they can find while others want the sights and sounds without an intense physical requirement.
An adventure tour is a traditional vacation and so much more. Some adventure tours are crafted for the nature lover, highlighting numerous national parks and the best nature settings that North America has to offer. If you can dream it up, then there is probably an adventure tour available which can help you make your dream a reality.
